Suzanne Krekelberg

Hi, my name is Suzanne, Suus for friends and everyone else. Born on world Animal day 1971. In my younger years, i studied psychology and economics and always worked in the hospitality industry. Since 2000 i have been trying to convince the Belgians that as a Dutch person it is possible to sell the Belgian National Product, Belgium fries. And that works well. I’ve purchased a fantastic new building at a beautiful location in Bilzen, Belgium.

It’s never been my desire to cross the Atlantic in anything other than an airplane but when my friend Magreet Voermans told me about her plan, and asked me to participate in the Worlds toughest Row, I immediately said YES! Still have to learn to maybe think before I say yes :). My 3 brothers think I’m doing this to match or even surpass our daddy, he sailed the ocean from Rotterdam to New York. Since he passed away several years ago, I think he can oversee our journey and will be our guardian angel.

We started this project as a team of four. Three veterinarians and myself. Two of our vets worked regularly in the Arab States, hence our name is YallahGo! (Hup, lets go, go fast!). It’s a name that, (although the vets had to retract due to time constraints or personal problems) still fits our personalities.

When I ended up solo, my son Bas offered to participate in this incredible adventure. of course he is the best son in the world and together as pairs, we are going to have an absolute fantastic time. Bas is a very caring person, hard worker, sporty, diver and someone who doesn’t give up. Best man to have on the boat!!!
Bas and I are very proud to row for our charity the ‘Make-A-Wish’ foundation. We wish that we can make a difference for all children with a severe medical disease!
